We Are Value Oriented
We manage both stock and bond portfolios. For example, when building a stock portfolio we select companies whose value we believe far exceeds their current stock market capitalization. As the underlying business improves over a period of time, its stock price should increase.
Colbert Investment Management’s bottom-up approach identifies businesses, which we believe are undervalued. We select businesses based on their free cash flow, management ownership, competitive position, private market value estimates, and other financial metrics. Our client portfolios are diversified with approximately 20 to 40 holdings.
We sell a holding when our reason for buying no longer exists, or due to a non-temporary deterioration of company fundamentals, or when a better investment is available.
